I think about ten more hours of detail work (after I rough out her hair) and I'll start to have something.

Almost wish I had some sort of formal education in painting.

Got a show coming up in February, need to get to work.  'S goin' well so far.  I'm learning.

Reform/Remodel

Just finished another remodel/reform job.  I tiled the bathroom (and toilet room) in this joint previously and now I put down hardwood flooring.  In one room I pulled out the tatami mats and built my first sub-floor.  And of course, I made a Love Tokyo sign for the wall, this time in cursive sorta.

Human eyes sure are weird.

Just finished (but didn't yet sign) this self portrait but it's difficult to photograph because of the heavy curve of the canvas.  Slightest change in angle of the camera greatly distorts my face.

Oh well.

Finished!

Signed and yeared this nude.  Painting is fun.  Now to get back to the self portrait.  Not right now of course.

Did a little more last night and this morning.

Moved an eye today.  Added some blush to her face.  Moving right along.

Love these little homemade canvases.

So, I'm sort of hidden away at the moment, kinda far from home, but I was able to bring a new canvas and my paints and I'm workng on my third (ever) oil painting.  I just finished the nipples and most of her skin tones.  Roughly placed some facial features yesterday and eyes today.  Need to move her mouth up a bit during my next session.  Feedback?

But I've finally managed to start this self portrait.  Oils on home made paper pulp canvas.  Not finished.

Whatever should I paint?

So, I've decided to try my hand at painting.  The obvious first step was making a canvas.  Here is my mould, made from the wrong type of plaster so it is very weak, the first canvas I pulled from it, made from paper pulp, and the canvas finished and dried after four coats of gesso.

Another apartment finished

Here's another apartment I worked on for the Love Tokyo Co.

Painted the door, Tiled the toilet and bathroom (most often they are separate in Japan).

Same tile design as the last place.

Plus a pic of some pretty flowers.

Genkan (Entryway)

I forgot the pic of the genkan for this last apartment.  I used a mix of different tiles.

Renew

So I had the opportunity to renovate a sort of dumpy apartment (weekly mansion).  Painted the walls, ceilings, floors and shelves.  Tore out the old bathroom tile and put up new.  Bruce put down the hardwood floor and that brought it all together.  Butterfly painted by the infamous Rikki Kasso.
