I've slowly been putting together a small woodshop and I recently discovered my regular workbench is just not gonna cut it for woodworking. Having seen a real European workbench earlier this year, and studying up everything I could online, I started building my own bench a few weeks ago when I could spare a day or two. Today I just finished the tail end vise. Everything works, but I am already finding little bits that I would change if I were to build a second bench. I had no actual diagrams so I was totally guessing on where to put everything, plus I had about twenty minutes to pick out the wood so there are some knots and discrepancies in the top that I am just ignoring.

Garden Arch with Handrail and Post Box Base
A garden arch is a fine addition to any yard and this one just happens to be very inviting as the main entrance to the property with a simple but handsome, handmade handrail attached to practically carry you up the stairs. With a matching base for the owners special dalle de verre post box, this custom, handmade steelwork will be the talk of the town. Designed and created by Crazy Evan's Crazy Hands (except for the lovely post box, Crazy Evan does not work in Dalle de Verre).

So, People Ask Me Everyday...
Do I have a day job in Japan? Sure! I
work for a very prestigious company, 近未来工房 (Kinmirai Koubou). My boss
is the illustrious 井土治さん (Mr. Izuchi Osamu). We specialize in exterior
design and construction. Custom gates, fences, handrails, and gardens,
but we can make many other interior items as well. We work mainly in
steel, glass and wood but we don't exclude working with any materials.
We are both quite passionate about materials.
Here are some pics of a recent exterior worksite that we finished last month:

New Cold Working Equipment for The Studio (sort of)
I've been putting together a wet belt sander recently so I can finally do a little sanding and polishing on glass made in my little studio. Starting with a cheap piece of shit no name belt sander, I lightly sealed the bearings, added some shielding and a splash reservoir, installed a water pump with a valve and sprayer and relocated the motor and electronics. Now I just need to find some good belts. Know of any granite working supply shops in Japan?

Stained glass for wonderful hair!
So, it's been nearly a year since I've posted and I've decided to get back into it! I completed these windows for a new hair salon in Ryugasaki (龍ヶ崎).
Following will be more junk I've made this last year.
